What the sticker leaves out
Many venues quote a hire fee but attach a food-and-drink minimum — you pay the floor even if your party spends less, so a "cheap" venue can carry a large hidden commitment.

Why the venue quote misleads
A wedding venue quote fixes the hire fee and a per-head rate, but the minimum spend, service charge and corkage sit alongside it — and the suppliers you book separately each add travel, alterations, stationery and gratuities of their own. Two venues with similar headline quotes can have very different true totals once minimums and charges are counted, which is exactly why comparing on the quote alone misleads. The true total is the only number that compares like with like.
How to work out your true total
Start from the venue hire and per-head catering for your guest count, then add the service charge, any shortfall against a minimum spend, corkage if you are bringing your own drink, each supplier’s travel and any overnight stay, dress alterations, stationery, gratuities and a realistic allowance for overtime.
